Barwon Health – Andrew Love Cancer Centre

The Barwon Health Andrew Love Cancer Centre provides adults living in the Barwon South West region, access to world class cancer treatment in the heart of Geelong.

Martlette is extremely proud to have worked with Barwon Health to deliver custom artwork that recognised the many contributors to this vital project for cancer treatment patients across the region.  In particular, the important and very generous contribution of the Allerton family.

Beth Allerton and her husband, Cliff opened their shoe factory “Allerton Shoes” in West Geelong in 1951 and made the most divine footwear with the tagline “Shoes for Smarter Women” until the factory closed in 1995.  Their lasting legacy lives on now on the walls of the Barwon Health Andrew Love Cancer Centre.

Artwork comprised hand drawn shoes, designed by Cliff Allerton; edited images of members of the Allerton family at work in their shoe factory; and a descriptive passage of text that outlines the history of the family and their contribution to the Barwon Health Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
